The tuba is one of the youngest instruments (first patented in September of 1835) and therefore it has the least amount of solo literature written for it. The tuba was originally conceived to perform as the bass member of the
brass family and stayed strictly in that role for most of the nineteenth century. Multiple generations of virtuosi tuba performers have now brought about the need for new music and new venues. It is my objective to continue this need for new music and to find more performing venues.
The other goal is to find as many opportunities for general public lectures and demonstrations as possible. Although many of us perform for our own enjoyment, it is essential for us to market ourselves and our business. Bringing music of any kind to the public is a necessary element to educating people of all ages. Why not tuba?
